Welcome & Introduction

Welcome to this Public Exhibition of the draft proposals for the development of the Lot 2 site at the former Coldeast Hospital site, Sarisbury. This is a comprehensive proposal to provide residential development, the restoration and re-use of the locally listed buildings and structures (including the Mansion House) and the provision of land for community facilities, including open space.

This exhibition follows a 3-day exhibition that was held in November 2007 at Brookfield School which has been followed up by extensive talks with Fareham Borough Council. This exhibition represents an important stage in our community consultation exercise to inform local residents of the proposals. We actively welcome your comments, views and ideas, which will be reviewed and incorporated where possible before a planning application is submitted in the autumn.

Fareham Borough Council is currently preparing its Core Strategy. Policy CS10 of the Core Strategy identifies the Coldeast Hospital site as a Strategic Development Allocation and a seperate Development Brief / Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) is being prepared by Fareham Borough Council. This will inform the development aspirations and principles to deliver a comprehensive package of development including housing, restoration of the locally listed buildings and structures and provision of land for community facilities.

The Core Strategy and the SPD identifies development on the whole Coldeast Hospital site, including:

  • The residential development already approved (lot 1), part of which is currently under construction by Miller Homes
  • Land under control by the PCT
  • Lot 2

This exhibition only relates to development on the Lot 2 site and the proposals seek to respond to the principles set out in the draft SPD. This is our interpretation of the development aspirations for the site and has not been endorsed by the Council.

Land Ownership

The Lot 2 site is owned by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), the national housing and regeneration delivery agency which is sponsored and funded by the Department for Communities and Local Government. Miller Homes has been selected as the preferred development partner to deliver a good quality scheme.

Miller Homes are currently constructing residential development on Lot 1.
